This architectural and recognizable staircase is called a ‘bistrot’ (French equivalent for pub) staircase due to its small size of 120cm and locations (like bars, pubs and coffee shops) where it was often installed and found. The Grenoble model staircase is a different staircase in Villa d'Or's range, being equipped with wooden treads.

The Grenoble spiral staircase was originally made by the company Jay & Jalliffier located in Grenoble, France. Jay & Jalliffier was founded in 1884 and was specialized in metal works, such as elevators, shutters and stairs. Unfortunately, little is known and preserved about this company.

Villa d’Or offers exactly the same two versions of the spiral staircases as back then by Jay & Jallifier, namely the standard and the Grenoble de Luxe version which is equipped with extra cast elements on the lateral side.
